Dietitians help people to meet their nutritional needs by helping them to understand the relationship between food and health, and how to make healthy choices on a daily basis. Adequate daily nutrition from all five food groups is a key factor in supporting a healthy lifestyle, and helps people to attain and maintain health and minimise the risk of chronic disease.

Dietitians also provide nutrition therapy to treat or manage illness and disease, such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
