About the Medical Centre

The Tallangatta Medical Centre is accredited under the Royal Australian College of General Practice Standards through Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL). The centre is co-located at the Tallangatta Health Service site. Parking is available in the centre car park at the front of the Medical Centre or on Barree Street. Disabled parking is available in front of the Medical Centre entrance. The team at the Medical Centre are employed by the Tallangatta Health Service (THS) and consists of Doctors, Practice Manager, Practice Nurse, Diabetes Educator, Nurse Practitioner and Reception staff.

Services Available

Surgery Hours
Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 1pm and 1.30pm to 5pm. Appointments are necessary and can be made by telephoning 02 6071 5270 or online using the appointment booking form below (only available for some practitioners).

Regular appointment times are 15 minutes, if you feel you need longer please discuss with the receptionist at time of booking. Appointments for health assessments, complex medical problems or removal of lesions all require extra time.

Privacy and Confidentiality of Health Information
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is a policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times. Information is only accessed by authorised members of staff for the purposes of improving or enhancing your health care. THS employees are required to sign a Privacy & Confidentiality agreement when commencing employment with THS. It is a dismissible offence to release any patient information without your express wishes.

Bulk Billing
Tallangatta Medical Centre is a Bulk Billing clinic. Certain Medical Assessments or dressings which are non-Medicare rebateable may incur a fee. Further information is available at time of booking. Payment is preferred on the day, but alternative arrangements can be made in some circumstances.

Please check your medications regularly and ensure you have sufficient supply until your next appointment. Telephone requests for prescriptions will not be taken unless previously arranged with your Doctor. As this service is not covered by Medicare, the Practice charges a fee.

A follow up appointment is usually required to receive results. Telephone advice will only be made if authorised by your doctor. The Medical Centre will attempt to contact you regarding any urgent results.

Home Visits
Home visits can be arranged in certain circumstances. Please contact the receptionist to discuss your needs. Remember, always call the ambulance service on 000 if you are experiencing severe pain or illness at any time. We also advise you to call 000 if your condition deteriorates whilst awaiting a scheduled home visit.

After Hours Services
Tallangatta Medical Centre is not able to provide a scheduled after hours service. Patients are requested to ring 000 in an emergency. The nearest staffed Emergency Department is at Albury Wodonga Hospital, Wodonga Campus, Vermont Street Wodonga, a 45km drive from Tallangatta.

Reminder System
Tallangatta Medical Centre is committed to preventative health care and has a recall system in place for routine screening and care plans. You may get a phone call or letter from time to time from the Practice staff requesting you to make an appointment.

Contacting your Health Professional
Phone calls to your doctor will initially be put through to the Practice Nurse if she/he is available or a message will be given for them to return your call. As the doctors are busy seeing patients it is often easier for you to speak to a nurse who will either resolve your issue or discuss any concerns with your doctor and get him/her to phone you back if required.

If your doctor has asked you to phone, please advise reception and you will be put through to your doctor if they are available or alternatively we will take a message for your doctor to return as soon as possible.

Our staff endeavour to meet your needs and expectations. We do appreciate feedback, therefore if you have a concern, comment or suggestion please complete a “Compliment, Comment or Complaint” form avail in the Medical Centre waiting room or speak to the Practice Manager, Practice Nurse or other Medical Centre staff member.
